Ponce City Market

The Ponce City Market now stands as one of the leading adaptive reuse examples in the United States. Placed on the grounds that once held the Ponce de Leon Springs and amusement park, The Ponce City Market is housed in the renovated former Sears, Roebuck and Co. retail store, warehouse and regional office. This is not the first time this space has been reused, as most recently before Ponce City Market, it was used as City Hall East by the city of Atlanta. After closing in 2010, Jamestown equity group acquired the property and began a massive overhaul. The former industrial center is now home to a number of retail businesses and is accelerating the revival of the Ponce de Leon corridor. The Atlanta Preservation Center spotlights this a positive preservation project as Ponce City Market has preserved as much of the structure's history while also making it economically viable for the community.
