In 2008 a tornado hit Atlanta affecting many historic buildings, including the Atlanta Daily World in the Martin Luther King Jr. Landmark District.

 

In 2012 the APC worked with several neighborhood groups to prevent the demolition of the Atlanta Daily World Building on Auburn Avenue. In 2014 Gene Kansas Commercial Real Estate purchased the property with plans to redevelop it. This is a win for the Sweet Auburn Landmark District! 

 

The APC is working with Gene Kansas and Gamble & Gamble architects to document the building's restoration as an example of adaptive reuse.
